Great business leaders know: As much as any other part of the equation, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are core to generating strong performance.
And while the terms diversity, equity and inclusion are not new, the movement – across society, institutions, and businesses – gained extraordinary momentum this year.
But what, exactly, does diversity, equity, and inclusion – often called D.E.I. – actually look like? What tangible steps can business leaders take to integrate the principles not as one-off projects, but rather on going standard operating procedures?
It’s called “inclusive leadership” – the ability to bring individuals, teams, and communities together in constructive ways that not only don’t betray the bottom line, but in today’s consumer-aware purchasing environment, builds a company’s financial standings.
Given today’s cancel culture, the ability to confidently exercise inclusive leadership is imperative.
That’s why for business leaders, the question becomes not why it’s necessary, but rather how should “inclusive leadership” be demonstrated? What are the best ways to navigate the social issues that are necessarily a part of today’s business landscape?
Call In is our effort to help – CEOs, business leaders, managers, and even employees and communities. Our series of conversations will explore these socials topics with the business leader as our central focus – helping these leaders navigate today’s cancel culture.
Each episode will start with a current news item. We’ll unpack the key social issues, potential business impacts, and – importantly – how leaders might navigate these issues within their own organizations and communities. We’ll help determine how these leaders can “call in, not cancel” their stakeholders to create a shared path forward.
